15 Reasons to love Bern

As you might know by now, I'm absolutely obsessed with traveling. I love the whole experience about it: getting to know new places, new cultures, new people. Unfortunately, like everything that we do and consume, traveling around the globe has an impact on the environment and can further climate change.

In my last post I mentioned already climate change. It is caused by the increase of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. The most important gas causing climate change is CO2, which has been increased due to human activities since the industrial age. That means that an energy producing activity based on fossil fuels is releasing carbons, which will heat up the atmosphere. So with everything that we do or consume based on energy, we're having our own carbon footprint. (Watch video about Carbon Footprint)

The good news is that our carbon footprint can be smaller or bigger based on our actions. So using public transport is better than using a car, going on a train ride is better than flying, traveling to a close destination is better than flying around the globe.

I'm not going to lie. Traveling environmental friendly will be a really big challenge for me to tackle. Of course I'm already doing good things: I don't own a car, I only use public transport or walk. However, I still want to see places that are far away and that require a long flight. But, let's slow down and start easy with a "staycation". A staycation is a

A vacation that is spent at one's home enjoying all that home and one's home environs have to offer.

I think this is a great way to appreciate where you are, learn more about your surroundings and that you don't have to travel that far to have a vacation. That's why I want to challenge you to explore your own city.

So this is how I explored the city I'm currently living in and 15 reasons why to love Bern:
